Here’s When The Minister Will Announce 2023 NSFAS Applications

The current academic year is nearing its final term, which translates to an upcoming influx of tertiary study applicants who will require funding assistance from the government. Here is when the Higher Education Minister will announce NSFAS applications for 2023.

Most of the country’s students, especially those who are financially challenged, depend on student funding assistance to finish their tertiary education.

Thus, as the 2023 academic year draws closer, a new cohort of first-year students is likely to anticipate the official announcement of 2023 NSFAS applications.

Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) minister, Blade Nzimande will announce the opening of NSFAS applications for 2023 on Tuesday 27 September 2022 at 16:00.

The announcement will be made through a live media briefing that will be accessible through the department’s various media platforms including those listed below:

During his media briefing, the minister will also discuss other various recent developments relating to the current state of the bursary scheme, including its application process. He will also give a report on the support that NSFAS has provided to students in the 2022 academic year.

For those looking to attend the media briefing, the event will take place at Ronnie Mamoepa Media Centre, Tshedimosetso House, 1035 Francis Baard Street, Hatfield.

NSFAS was established by the government according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to offer financial aid to underprivileged students who wish to continue and complete their education at public universities or TVET colleges.
